With about 1,800 hectares of land spread over the province of Florence and Pistoia, the Padule of Fucecchio is one of the most important wetlands in Tuscany of which about 230 hectares are protected by nature reserves. During the year, more than 200 species of birds can be observed here. The marshland therefore offers exceptional ideas for bird watching enthusiasts and nature photography.
The center of san Miniato which is known for TRUFFLE. In November, this town is in the spotlight for the white truffle festival that attracts many truffle lovers. It is a small town with cozy streets, where various restaurants and shops with various local products can be found. A walking route in the center leads you towards the tower where you have a beautiful view of the surroundings. On the 1st Sunday of the month there is an antique market. You can also spot wild animals here such as wild boars, deer, porcupines, squirrels etc.
Dogs are allowed to walk freely but always take other dogs into account , and respect the wild animals in nature.
